UK

Harnessing the power of entertainment to support our vision of a just world free from poverty, Comic Relief has enjoyed the support of the British public for the last 35 years. We awarded £75.4 million in 2019 to fund life-changing projects in the UK and abroad and are committed to accelerating social impact on poverty and injustice, using our voice and influence to amplify the voice of our partners and accelerate social change on a wider scale.

The role of the Chair is essential to the success of Comic Relief and is a challenging and rewarding role, operating in a complex political and societal environment. This is no ordinary Chair role and we are seeking an extraordinary person; someone who is able to balance the challenge of strong and effective governance with the sense of fun which is integral to our spirit and intrinsically linked to our strong heritage. Providing clear leadership to the Board, the Chair will provide effective governance of Comic Relief and will shape and sustain a high-quality and diverse Board. The Chair will lead on strategy and will be responsible for supporting, advising and challenging our new Chief Executive and wider Executive Team. Acting as an ambassador for the organisation, the Chair will drive effective relationships with senior stakeholders such as Government, Parliament, devolved administrations, civil society, the media and opinion formers.

With previous chairing experience and a strong track record of strategic leadership in civil society, business, politics and public life, you will have the utmost credibility and integrity. With first class communication and influencing skills, and a strong sense of fun we will look to you to be an ambassador for Comic Relief, able to engage with senior leaders across a range of sectors. Above all, you will be committed to diversity and inclusion and will champion change in wider society and be an advocate for our vision of a just world free from poverty.
