Contract: Fixed term for 3 years Closing date: Wednesday 29 May 2019 Purpose and key objectives Manage the £9.6 million capital project to develop the Abbot Hall site and create a sustainable future for Abbot Hall Art Gallery and the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry. Lead the input of Lakeland Arts teams into the design and overall project development. Managing, and working in partnership with the design team and other professional consultants, to develop and deliver the capital project to the agreed programme and budget. Manage the funding awarded by Arts Council England and other grants and contribute to the fundraising campaign to secure match funding. Key responsibilities Manage the Abbot Hall capital project for Lakeland Arts through RIBA Stages 4 - 6, meeting key project milestones. Lead and coordinate Lakeland Arts input into the project, working with Senior Leadership Team, curatorial, participation and learning, operations and other teams to deliver an international / national quality Art Gallery and Museum that is fit for purpose. Manage the procurement and appointment of professional consultant teams in line with Arts Council England and Lakeland Arts' procurement policy and procedures including supporting the procurement of the main contractor. Act as main point of contact for Lakeland Arts with design and professional consultant teams Lead communication with the project team, other Lakeland Arts colleagues and key stakeholders and provide support to the Head of Marketing in developing and delivering external project communications and marketing plan. Coordinate and support Project Board meetings and other project meetings, including recording decisions and producing minutes; and reporting any concerns, issues and difficulties at an early stage. Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, detailing management systems and procedures, and record signing off key project stages. Support the Finance team in managing the project budget, cashflow and grant drawdowns. Manage reporting to Arts Council England and all funders of the capital project. Work with Head of Development to deliver the fundraising campaign to secure the match funding for Arts Council England and other grants supporting the Fundraising Working Group meetings as required. Manage stakeholders and key strategic partnerships and organsiations Contribute to Lakeland Arts' stakeholder events and other activities to promote Lakeland Arts and Abbot Hall to involve local communities, visitors and key stakeholders. Identify and map Lakeland Arts client-side work packages and work closely with the Senior Leadership and Management Teams to support delivery of this work, including the decant of the collection and temporary closure during construction. Manage the contractual agreements between Lakeland Arts, the professional consultants and suppliers ensuring contracts are delivered as specified and that Lakeland Arts' best interests are protected. Additional Information This post is supported by Arts Council England. The post is full time, 37.5 hours per week working predominantly Monday to Friday with occasional need for evening, weekend or bank holiday working. As a key member of staff, the post holder will be required to attend events, particularly those connected with responsibilities of the post.
