The Interim Head of Business Intelligence drives the strategy for and manages the day-to-day Service delivered to Analytics and Data Consumers across HCA Healthcare UK, oversees the work of the BI Delivery Managers and Architect, develops BI support, maintenance plans and implementation strategies to meet the data needs of the division.
The BI team includes clinical and non-clinical data and integration solutions, enterprise data warehouse, meta-data management, data quality management, integration, master and reference data management, reporting, business intelligence, analysis, and routine development.
The Interim Head of Business Intelligence purely focuses on creating the best experience possible for data consumers and interacts regularly with corporate, facility and executive leadership teams as needed in relationship to technical and customer support issues.
As part of the business scope you’ll:
Sets the strategy for Business Intelligence
Sets and controls the budget.
Leads a team
Develops support mechanisms for all aspects of business intelligence that impact any experience
Duties include;
Delivers the best Data and Integration Experience possible:
Ensures development and service delivery of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Data Quality, and Integration products, services, and resources within the HCA Business Intelligence organization. This includes responsibility for ensuring the appropriate level of support for the ongoing functionality of the systems.
Owns and develops the overall EDW and Integrations strategy, including partnering with Senior Leadership from across the organization on the alignment of the IT strategy with the business intelligence and integration agenda.
Maintains a leadership role in setting service direction and ensures standards and policies are maintained and compatible with HCA standard information systems architecture, tools, policies and procedures
Communicates regularly and is highly visible to key clinicians and steering groups at the Corporate office and the facilities
Develops consistent and effective means of business continuity and disaster recovery for all business intelligence and integration solutions that are aligned to the business priority.
Team Management
Leads personnel management activities, including performance management and career development activities
Sponsors efforts to develop core competencies, processes, and disciplines. Supports sharing of best practices
Participates in activities to improve departmental and organizational performance. Develops benchmark measures to evaluate productivity within the Business Intelligence team.
Partners with the IT Finance team to help develop and monitor the overall IT budget.
Business Intelligence and Integration Technology Innovation
Constantly looks for new technology to improve the service
Identifies possible training and system enhancements. Establishes solution tracking metrics and dashboard reports to track data and integration solution usage and satisfaction
Leads the IT&S organization in solution selection, preparation of RFP’s, etc. in conjunction with HCA procurement personnel
Owns and develops the Business Intelligence and Integrations strategy from a platform, architecture, support, and engagement perspective.
Ensures appropriate data quality management is central to all data solutions and integrations
Leads the HCA UK BI community and ensures the appropriate governance, policies and procedures are in place to support accurate reporting, data quality, and advanced analytics
Drives HCA UK BI community thinking to derive insights through predictive analytics and big data solutions
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Information Systems or a related field. An advanced degree in Information Systems, Business, Planning, or related field is a plus
Strong understanding of business intelligence, data management, integration, support, development, and customer service principles
A clear understanding of computer systems and corresponding support requirements
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
Strong leadership skills, personal drive and ability to see projects through to execution in a matrixed, corporate environment is required
Advanced reasoning, math, and language skills should be performed at advanced levels
Extensive demonstrable experience in an IT environment with project management experience
Excellent Service Delivery and User Support experience
Direct supervision or staff development experience
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in multiple technology disciplines
Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal skills
