Cyber Security Specialist

My well known, rapidly growing client based in Birmingham City Centre is looking for a passionate and experienced Cyber Security Specialist to join their close knit team and their head office. This role is focused towards ensuring the Information Security of the company and its staff.

The Cyber Security Specialist will be responsible for day-to-day information assurance, IT security and cyber intrusion activities, ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability of the company's infrastructure to agreed service standards. You will also be supporting and working closely with ICT, business continuity, senior management and external partners to provide ICT security design consultancy, expertise and assurance to the company projects, programmes, BAU activities and capability roadmaps.

Key responsibilities:

*Provide Risk Management ROSI and continually evolve a security strategy in line with business objectives.

*Coordinate, prioritise and optimise operational security, network security, security monitoring & testing.

*Develop and maintain security metrics & KPIs.

*Consult on securing network & server infrastructure as well as secure system design & development.

*Conduct regular security reviews of internal & DMZ systems as well as compliance audit of external partners.

*Logging & investigating information security incidents root cause analysis and recommendations.

*Provide instruction & training for staff on information security procedures and their application

*Create required technical documentation.

*Promote good security practice across all departments & maintain an appropriate balance of usability vs. security.

*Advise on secure business enablement via disruptive technologies such as enterprise mobility & cloud.

*Responsibility for complex and critical contracts, their negotiation, operation & problem resolution.

Key skills and experience required:

*Demonstrable experience in an IT security function.

*Experience of Cyber Essentials Plus certification and the latest PCI DSS version.

*Experience of security operations & network security and secure infrastructure design.

*Experience of using defence in depth with physical, logical & administrative controls to prevent cybercrime.

*Experience of working within a project framework or methodology such as Prince2.

*Experience in successful operation of the following security technologies: Firewall, end point protection, (anti-malware, vulnerability management, IPS, device encryption, application control), remote access, web & email gateways, 2FA, web application protection & DLP.

*Experience in manual security testing, effective use of penetration testing tools and awareness the following security technologies NIDS & Honeypots, behavioural & forensic analytics and sandboxing.

*Knowledge of ISO 27000 series, data protection legislation and laws relating to information security.

*Knowledge of government security standards such as PSN & ColCo.

*Knowledge of cyber security & resilience in intelligent public transport systems.

*Knowledge of ICT with a sound understanding of the concepts & applications of communications within ICT.
