Infrastructure Support Engineer

Established client based in Birmingham City Centre is looking for a passionate Infrastructure Support Engineer to join their experienced team. As a key member of the ICT team, this role will ensure that all network, support and systems activities are carried out as outlined in operational plan to effectively enable the ICT components of the business plan work streams.

The Infrastructure Support Engineer will provide Second and Third Line Support to the wider company. You will also have the responsibility and autonomy to make changes to any ICT systems and will be accountable for ensuring that any changes to ICT systems meet the operational requirements and are in strict adherence to the business continuity and security accreditation arrangements.

Key responsibilities:

*Resource for the ICT Helpdesk and Infrastructure work streams and responsibility for the delivery of an effective ICT service.

*Provide second and third line support and act as an escalation point for second line under ICT Operations.

*Contribute to the identification and recommendation of relationships with external stakeholders to provide ICT services / solutions that provide value for money and meet the needs of the company.

*Assist with daily management of both internal and external ICT infrastructure in support of all the Programmes and work streams.

*Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of appropriate ICT policies and procedures in support of the Business Plan, ensuring that they are fit for purpose, up to date, and conform to best practice.

*Provide advice and guidance to senior managers on technical and complex issues.

*Assist in ensuring the systems are robust and kept updated through a proactive programme of maintenance.

*Be aware of emerging technology solutions and be proactive in advising the ICT Manager and colleagues of the potential benefits of technology developments.

*Contribute to the continuous improvement and efficiency through participation in ICT reconfiguration projects made possible through an in depth understanding of the IT infrastructure.

*Supporting the maintenance of information management and information security to a level consistent with all relevant standards including those laid down by ISO 27001 Information Security Management standards.

Key skills required:

*Demonstrable experience of Second and Third Line IT Support

*Administration of SharePoint Online, Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange Online

*Experience administrating Active Directory/Group Policy

*Knowledge Windows 7, Exchange Server 2007, Windows Server 2008 / 2012 R2, SQL Server 2008 and SCCM 2012

*Knowledge and understanding of Cisco VLAN, Cisco VPN and Proxy technologies

*Infrastructure design including WAN/LAN and TCP/IP network design

*Previous use of helpdesk administration packages

*Experience of drafting and maintaining IT policy documentation

*Any knowledge of Virtualisation Technologies (Hyper-V) and Symantec Netbackup/Cloud backup would also be highly desirable.
