IT Security Engineer - DV Cleared

IT Security Engineer required to apply technical expertise to detect and investigate security incidents relating to user activities of IT systems.

Key to this role will be to look for opportunities, analyse information, manage risk and take evidence based decisions. You should have a broad knowledge and understanding of technologies and have experience in the Information Security sector. The role will involve all aspects of designing, deploying and supporting Security Information and Event Management systems.

Requirements

- Evaluate XML files which do not pass schema checking against an XSD and determine the changes that would be needed

- Analyse requirements and advise on scope and options for continuous operational improvement

- Collaborate with Solution Developers to create & implement application level auditing

- Perform design & architect reviews and secure software development risk assessments

- Make decisions which impact the success of assigned work, i.e. results, deadlines and budget

- Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders

- Work autonomously

- Build appropriate and effective business relationships

Skills Required:

Essential:

- XML & Related technologies (SAX,DOM,XSD,XSLT)

- Knowledge of Virtual Environments

- Windows, Unix environment experience

- Experience designing and implementing Use Cases

- Scripting/server-side languages (Python, Perl, PHP, Bash, PowerShell)

- Server Technologies (Tomcat, Apache or similar)

Desirable:

- Basic understanding of REST APIs

- Basic understanding of code versioning tools

- Experience of developing style sheets

- Experience of coding Java applications

- Knowledge & Experience of SIEM security technologies

- Experience in a project management or ITIL-based environment

Due to the nature and urgency of this post, candidates holding or who have held high level security clearance in the past are most welcome to apply. Please note successful applicants will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment which can take up to a minimum 18 weeks.
