Job Title: Senior Developer (PHP)

Location: Uxbridge (UB11)

Salary: £45-60,000

Working hours: 9:00 - 17:30 Monday to Friday (Full Time)

Our Client is a specialist online insurance platform innovating to give customers the right policy at the right price.

The Role:

The Senior Developer is responsible for the development and continued support of our NEW micro service systems built using the Laravel framework, and currently sited on an AWS platform.

The role is key to the continued success. This senior position will work closely with the current team we are building, enhancing and supporting will be a key requirement We are looking for a Developer who will mainly be responsible for managing back-end services and the interchange of data between the db and interface. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements into the application. Therefore, an understanding of front-end technologies is required.

Skills and Requirements:

* Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks preferably Laravel.

* Understanding the fully synchronous behaviour of PHP

* Understanding of MVC design patterns

* Good understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3

* Understanding accessibility and security compliance.

* Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions

* Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application

* User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments

* Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system

* Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds

* Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes

* Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages

* Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or SVN

* Experience with JQuery or any other JS Libraries advantageous

* Experience of the following technologies would be advantageous - AWS, Mongo, Jenkins or any deployment automation.

* Maintain Wiki's for documentation

Experience & Qualifications:

* Degree in Computer Science or other Programming subject, or Show experience

* Demonstrably highly literate

* Confident verbal communicator

* Demonstrably good telephone manner

* Tenacious and positive professional with a can-do attitude

* Previous development experience within a team environment.
