IT Security Manager

£44,608 - £52,479 (dependent on experience)

Our client is the charity that saves lives at sea. They are now looking for an IT Security Manager to join them at their headquarters in Poole.

Technology comes in many forms and functions. Our client may not come across as the most advanced organisation but look a little closer. Without advanced tech solutions could they have rescued 23 people per day last year? Could they have launched their lifeboats nearly 9,000 times?

The simple answer is no, and our client relies on advanced technology to keep track of everything, from their lifeboats and crews out at sea to the volunteers, fundraisers and staff who keep them functioning and even the supply chain which enables their fleet to operate in the roughest weather day in, day out.

So, our client requires a highly technical and skilled IT security professional to join their IT Team and ensure that our client can continue to operate safely and securely into the future.

As the IT Security Manager, you will be tasked with supporting our client’s IT infrastructure and ensuring the safety and security of their data assets and information.

Specifically, you will ensure that appropriate security policies are in place and the standards of our client’s technology security is second-to-none. You will also act as the security design authority and devise and implement appropriate security solutions and the accompanying documentation.

Your other duties will include:

- Delivering and maintaining the IT security strategies, policies, security models, principles and documentation

- Managing a team of IT professionals

- Identifying and maintaining an ongoing security risk catalogue

- Ensuring all new technology across the organisation adheres to security policies

- Involving yourself in response planning and investigations for security breaches and assisting in resolutions as required

So, is this the role for you? If so, you will need:

- Significant experience in a similar role with a recognised security qualification such as CISSP or CISA

- Significant experience of a service level based environment, IT systems management and methods based environments

- Project planning and leadership experience

- Demonstrable experience of business continuity planning, auditing and risk management, as well as contract and vendor negotiation

- A solid understanding of information technology and information security

- Strong working knowledge of Data Protection and PCIDSS as well as common security frameworks such as ISO 27001

- To be educated to degree standard and have appropriate experience in a broad range of IT disciplines

Articulate and persuasive, as the IT Security Manager, you will need great leadership skills and the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.

A project management certification and/or technical certification, such as TOGAF, Cisco or Microsoft, would be beneficial to your application.
