We are seeking a security minded Systems Administrator with excellent skills in both Microsoft Server Administration and infrastructure with a good knowledge of virtualisation to play a key role in our systems team.

The role involves entire spectrum of core IT operations. Responsible for strategic and operational aspects of on premise and cloud IT Infrastructure. Specifically, responsible for the physical/virtual infrastructure, networking, storage, virtualisation, windows-based infrastructure as well as related systems & services.

You should be comfortable supporting the desktop estate as well as configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and monitoring Windows / Linux servers. You will be comfortable in managing all aspects of corporate IT services - hardware, OS, systems, software and business services such as MS Exchange and Office 365.

The role includes the opportunity to design new solutions, enhance resilience of existing solutions and refine system architecture with a view to achieving ISO27001 accreditation. You will be able to work closely with onsite and offshore systems team to ensure debugging, tuning and improvement of applications, services and supporting systems. You will also be responsible for the management of configuration and maintenance of deployment and patching processes.

This is a dynamic role that will engage both creative and analytical thinking.

Principal Responsibilities

- Evaluate, design and implement IT systems & infrastructure

- Procure IT systems, licensing & asset management

- Day to day administration, operations, monitoring, troubleshooting and support of desktop estate, IT systems and infrastructure

- Responsible for company’s web presence infrastructure

- Manage outsourced services and suppliers

- Manage IT led projects and provide support for non-IT led projects

- Liaise with project management and support teams and providing support to these teams as part of customer and project delivery

- Produce reports for management

In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required. This role will involve working on weekends from time to time. The position may require travel within UK.

Required Skills and Experience

- Educated to degree level in computer science / related field or equivalent work experience

- Core Microsoft Certifications in IT Administration

- Hands on experience of IT administration, implementation and support

- Good technical and problem solving skills - at least 3rd line support level

- In-depth Windows Server Experience, including advanced administration and architectures

- In depth understanding of different components of a Microsoft Windows estate e.g. DNS, DHCP, AD, ADFS, Group Policies, Sites and Services etc.

- Good understanding of security using Active Directory/ADFS, PKI, Kerberos etc.

- Infrastructure Management and monitoring using MS Systems Centre

- In depth knowledge of Exchange and Office 365

- Understanding of standard corporate IT services such as Database servers, IP Telephony, VPN, Firewalls etc.

- Good understanding of virtualisation technologies e.g. Hyper-V, VMWare

- Knowledge of storage technologies, networking principles and network security

- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux

- Proven desktop support experience and automation for keeping desktops up to date; Willingness to help with 1st and 2nd line support if necessary

- Experience in system design, installation and integration

- Demonstrable documentation skills

- Good Linux Experience, including advanced administration and architectures (primarily Redhat/CentOS)

- Advanced knowledge of Systems Security and Encryption principles and practices

- Good knowledge of DRM and Security

- Experience of running 'virtual machines as a service’

- Understanding of routing and switching technology e.g. Juniper, Cisco, HP etc.

- Understanding of project management, ITIL principles and security standards

- Able to work in teams and take instruction from a variety of people
