Security & Network Engineer -North London - £30,000-£45,000+to to £5k cash allowance + benefits

London, North London, South East, UK.

An exciting IT Security job has arisen with a high profile central government department for a Security and Network Engineer.

You will act as the focal point for all security related incidents within a NOC / SOC delivering a first class service to all staff to ensure all communications are secure and threats are recognised and mitigated against. An important element of the role will be to ensure an acceptable level of network availability and quick and efficient triaging and resolution of incidents allocated to the network resolver group.

Key Responsibilities include:

* Supporting in-house technologies, monitoring, managing and maintaining the security platforms; management of vulnerability and application scanning, and cyber threat analysis.

* Recognising attempts at intrusion through review and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.

* Consulting IT teams regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems.

* Assisting implementation of counter measures.

* Assessing and Implementing Security Changes and Releases

* To respond to and act upon operational issues within a Technical Support Service environment.

* To triage and progress Network, Cloud and Security Incidents.

* To provide fault diagnosis and troubleshooting with escalation to Resolver Groups as required.

* To understand and follow ITIL V3 Disciplines; Incident, Problem, Change and Asset Management.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Significant relevant experience administrating the direction, development, implementation and operation of IT Security solutions.

* Experience of Firewalls configurations and operations: Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, Juniper, Palo Alto

* Experience of Internet Gateway Mail and Web Filters.

* SIEM System understanding and experience

* Knowledge of Technical Standards - creation and review

* Experience of working with 3rd party Penetration Testing vendors and security partners

* Knowledge of Threat Management and Vulnerability Assessments

* Knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN) and Wide Area Networking (WAN) technologies

* Understanding of a switched architecture and its workings (DNS, DHCP, Security, IP Switching/Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.)

* Experience in Security Device Management, Network Security and Zoning, Security Monitoring, Host Protection.

* Knowledge of Local Area Networking (LAN)
