The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is responsible for distributing about £4 billion a year for teaching and research in universities and colleges in England.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new role within the Governance team. Your role is to ensure that all Council employees have the knowledge and skills they need to manage information and security risks to the Council. It includes designing, developing and delivering and / or ensuring the delivery of a range of training programmes and awareness raising activities. In addition, the post holder will be called upon to provide an assessment of information security provision in software and maintenance contracts, licences and more generally and therefore will need technical as well as theoretical knowledge.

You will have the opportunity to work with internal learning and development professionals to ensure that the Information Security Training and Awareness (ISTA) programme is delivered and aligns with other training provided elsewhere in the organisation. This will include working with colleagues to weave ISTA training into other training opportunities, as appropriate and will involve working with ITS colleagues on IT security, the Governance team on legal compliance and HR in relation to the centralised training programme.

Naturally you will have a background in information security training and awareness and a real energy and enthusiasm for the subject to keep your knowledge up to date and your examples fresh and engaging.

You will need to be a self-starter with excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work at both a strategic and operational level. This is very much a hands-on role and one which will require you to use your existing skills and knowledge as an experienced professional to best effect.

If you are interested in this opportunity and possess the attributes described above, and in the person specification, we would be delighted to receive an application from you. Further details about the role and how to apply can be found on our website.

Benefits include a comprehensive staff development programme, 25 days` annual leave and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.

Part time at a minimum of 0.8 FTE and job share applications will be considered.

Closing date: 15th February 2017.

Interview date: 12th February 2017.

The selection process will take place on 1st March 2017.

NO AGENCIES PLEASE.
