MATCH is the Multidisciplinary Assessment of Technology Centre for Healthcare (www.match.ac.uk). Throughout the world, there is an increasing emphasis on the use of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to determine value for money when adopting medical technology. In MATCH, we work with demand-side organisations such as the NHS Centre for Evidence-based Purchasing (CEP) to develop decision-support methods and tools, as well as with the NHS National Innovation Centre (NIC). The MATCH team also works with a range of companies to develop an integrated suit of methods that connect between the worlds of ‘based on belief’ and ‘based on evidence’. This involves producing guidelines, developing methods, and providing integrated HTA tools for business processes - for those producing medical technology and those who take it up and use it.

Within MATCH the Brunel MATCH Application Manager is responsible for identifying and leading the specification, development and evaluation of a variety of innovative software tools. MATCH requires an Applications Developer to assist in this work. This is an exciting opportunity for you to innovate and work with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from academia, public health and industry.

   •   Work with the Brunel MATCH Applications Manager to identify opportunities for software tool development in MATCH;

   •   Assist in specifying the requirements of prototype applications;

   •   Develop and evaluate prototype applications for MATCH in web-based environments;

   •   Ensure that adequate documentation is available for users and where necessary write notes for guidance;

   •   Advise the Brunel MATCH Tools Manager on technical matters; and

   •   Assist in the development of the MATCH website.

Informal discussions about the role are welcomed; please contact MATCH Applications Manager, Dr. Simon Taylor on 01895 265994, or in his absence, the Communications Manager (Healthcare), Elizabeth Deadman on 01895 266050.
