Network Engineer required to join my client a specialist in hosting premier data space with diverse connectivity.
A senior and experienced network engineer engineer to my client. This varied and challenging role within an existing professional Networks & Datacentre Facilities Team responsible for design, deployment, ongoing maintenance and support of core and client networks and datacentre infrastructure.
As a part of the full service offered to clients, you will also engage in pre-sales design through to physical implementations on a project basis.
You must have a strong background with skills in Cisco routing, switching and security extending into content aware environments.
suits a person with previous ISP or mission critical experience, excellent general competencies, good telephone manner with an interest to learn. Good face to face meeting skills and professional mannerisms are essential as there is also a requirement to participate in customer meetings to provide technical input. It is desirable, though not essential, to have recognised certification or qualifications such as CCNP/ CCIE, and essential to have practical experience of managing business critical environments.
The role will include an on-call provision and therefore the applicant will need to be within a reasonable travelling distance and require their own transport for occasions when public transport may not be available (e.g. due to time of day).
Principle Accountabilities
Service Delivery
*Management of design, provisioning and deployment activities
*Management of customer expectations through regular customer liaison
*Responsible for successful implementation of new customer orders
*Provision of quality pre sales and post implementation documentation
*Ongoing support of customer's service including evolution of implemented solution
*Monthly reporting of pre sales solutions and ongoing implementation progress updates
*Regular review/ overview of customer Infrastructure Management processes/ duties
*Collating and presenting monthly management reports
Profile of Job Holder
Competencies: Networks & Facilities
*Mandatory technologies: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Layer 2 switching, STP, VLAN Trunking/ Port Channel, Cisco ASA etc
*Desirable technologies: Cisco IDS/ CS MARS, Netflow, DSL/ Radius technology, MPLS
*Understanding of transmission layer services (CWDM/ DWDM/ SDH/ Wavelengths/ Optics (e.g. LR/ SX)/ Fibre types)
*Cisco CCIE or CCNP with 3+ years relevant experience
*Linux/ Unix, Basic PHP/ Perl/ Expect scripting and monitoring systems experience
*Involvement in datacentre design and operation, and understand the performance/ business continuity needs of an ISP
