Job summary
An opportunity to join our IT system development team on the programme. The Programme is a new system implementation providing a consolidated application for a wide variety of products sold direct to the Customer.
Responsible for working closely with the business and IT development teams to provide technical support, advice and solution design for systems development work.
Main duties
Interpret business requirements and act as an interface with other divisions as necessary to facilitate the delivery of appropriate solutions, whilst enabling an overall systems strategy.
To liaise with business users, developers and testers throughout the lifecycle of the project
Investigate, critically analyse and wherever possible improve IT solutions.
Undertake feasibility studies and provide business case weighted Solution Options.
Guide and direct business customers with the introduction of new ideas
Technical Skills & Experience
Proficient In
Development Tools: RequisitePro, Rational Software Architect and Clearcase, J2EE & EJB 2.1, Oracle, Web Services, WebSphere Application Server 6.0
Middleware:, WebSphere MQ, WebSphere Message Broker
Qualifications
Techniques: UML, Domain Modelling and XML (including transformation/ translation)
Recognised technical certification in relevant technology preferred e.g. Sun Certified Programmer, Oracle PL/ SQL Developer Certified Associate
Recognised IT architect certification preferred e.g. ISEB Certificate in Architecture.
Knowledge Of
Direct and Intermediated models.
Development Tools: Quality Centre, Continuous Integration, ANT Technologies
Technologies: Natural, ADABAS, VB6/ ASP, COM, PL:/ SQL, Spring
Project Planning: Iterative, Waterfall, Agile. MS-Project
The successful applicant for this role will be able to:
Investigate, evaluate and decide on appropriate business solutions, having an in depth knowledge of constructing business technical solutions and providing technical solution options
Explore new IT solutions and methodologies.
Define, manage and successfully achieve project objectives.
Use appropriate business tools to support the role
