Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Railways
London
£45,000 + Benefits
Apply your engineering expertise to a project that will enhance one of the world's most iconic transport systems.
London Underground
One billion passengers travel on the London Underground each year. That's a demanding workload for our rolling stock. So, in 2010, our Engineering for Trains Division will be launching an ambitious new project to overhaul the wheelset to rail group standards. Working out of a purpose-built facility, we'll also be overhauling a wide range of rotating machinery.
What you'll do
As Team Leader, you'll identify and implement robust engineering solutions to overcome manufacturing problems, while supporting managers on various technical issues. Proactively managing specific projects, with a particular focus on quality assurance, you'll also be consulting with internal experts as well as external suppliers.
What you'll need
With a proven engineering record in the rail sector, you'll have practical experience of overhauling both wheelsets and rotary equipment such as traction motors, compressors and motor alternators. It is desirable that you posses some electrical knowledge of Dc and AC traction motors. An in-depth knowledge of rolling stock is essential. On top of that, you'll need:
* A strong leadership style
* First class relationship-building skills
* Attention to detail
* A clear understanding of rail group standards
What you'll receive
As a large organisation, we can offer you lots of opportunities for career development - whether you want to move forward in engineering, sideways into a different area, or upwards into a managerial position. In addition, you'll enjoy an excellent range of benefits, including:
* Generous holiday allowance, plus public and bank holidays
* Pension
* Free travel across London
* Health club and gym discounts
* Private medical insurance
