As one of the UK's leading learning technologies companies, our client is a successful web development company that focuses on supporting education, skills analysis and learning. A fantastic opportunity has now arisen for a Java Web Developer to join their team.
This is the ideal role for an experienced Java Developer, looking to build on their career with a company that works with well-known names including Tesco and the NHS.
Working at the cutting edge of learning technology, as a Java Developer you will be working on highly dynamic web applications, delivering simple, clean and maintainable code.
This role will initially involve working on an innovative portfolio aggregation tool with further opportunities to work with public and private sector companies in the delivery of innovative learning delivery web-based systems.
Your duties will include:
- Evaluating and communicating progress on timescales and limitations to the project leader
- Delivering software projects and support as required
- Testing and validating work produced
- Ensuring all work carried out is well documented
- Presenting concepts to the team and clients
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Java programming/ development experience
- Experience of using XHTML, SQL, XML
- A good understanding of semantic mark-up and accessibility
- An understanding of the software development process
As a Java Web Developer you should also have attention to detail, the ability to meet challenging deadlines and a willingness to learn and develop your skills.
Whilst not essential, any of the following would be beneficial to your application: skills in .NET, C#, XSLT, CSS; knowledge of SAKAI; a degree (or equivalent) in an IT discipline; experience within the learning technologies industry.
