Our Client, a Banking Organisation have specified the need for an Engineering Manager based at their HQ within the heart of the City.
Reporting to the Head of the Facilities and Engineering Unit(FMEU),you will assume a key role in developing and coordinating planned maintenance strategies and resulting programmes for the HQ building engineering infrastructure, preparing and following through to completion tenders for the engineering improvement projects carried out by the Department. The Engineering Services Manager will work closely with relevant managers within Administration, in particular coordinating activities with the Facilities Management Unit in connection with facilities-related non-engineering projects in the HQ building. The incumbent will also liaise with and support the Facilities Operations Unit and provide advice on maintenance activities and technical engineering issues for the RO's.
Key responsibilities and deliverables:
* Review the existing maintenance strategies for the HQ building's infrastructure, and where necessary, introduce new approaches to the medium and long term maintenance programme.
* Develop and manage the planned preventative maintenance programme (PPM), ensuring that activities are completed to highest industry standards, within allocated budget and in a timely manner; where appropriate improve/ revise the existing PPM tasks taking into account the forthcoming engineering projects.
* Develop medium and long-term programme for the improvement of the HQ infrastructure, taking into account the requirements to minimise energy consumption in the building and the need to continually improve energy efficiency. Develop and manage all the resulting tenders.
* Assist the Head in reviewing engineering specifications for the HQ building and revise/ improve existing standards as appropriate (in coordination with Health & Safety).
* Provide technical support to facilities management projects, in coordination with the FMU to improve the HQ building infrastructure.
* Assist the Head, FMEU in the management of engineering projects; current projects include Variable Speed Drive installation, Chiller replacement and lift refurbishment.
* In conjunction with FMU, assess new office designs and identify the services requirements, cost and manage any installation work; opine on moves and changes requests.
* Provide technical advice to FOU in respect of the fit out and maintenance of RO premises.
* Propose operating and capital budgets to support capital projects and maintenance programmes for HQ; produce periodic reporting for engineering activities.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a senior and seasoned M&E engineer having a flexible, hands on approach to working, which at times may include attending the building outside normal working hours to manage/ monitor works.
Experience should include, but should not be limited to:
* Qualified engineer (eg OND, HND or university degree in engineering) with extensive experience in M&E field, including substantial experience in building maintenance industry, with relevant experience at a Management level.
* Experience in managing similar activities in buildings of comparable size and complexity would be an essential advantage.
* Project Management experience.
* Experience in the management of outsourced providers.
* Demonstrated ability of high quality technical drafting of tender documentation (Scope of Works, Terms of Reference) for significant engineering projects is essential.
* Familiar with the Management of Health and Safety at Work legislation.
* Planning and managing small works.
* Familiarity with air conditioning systems, centrifugal chillers, Trend Building Management systems and automated lighting control systems would be an added advantage.
