Embedded Software Engineer - IT & Telecoms - Lewes, Sussex : Permanent

Our Client supplies state:of:the:art voice alarm and related products for building infrastructure installations. It has won prestigious contracts in partnership with major contractors like Thales and Seimens to deliver solutions for new developments such as St Pancras International Rail Terminal. The division is a focussed, dynamic and expanding team working in a fast, demanding and growing market place with a reputation for quality designs delivered on time and to budget.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be:
? Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager
? Expected to work independently, delivering new hardware designs
? Working as a software developer within a small team to develop voice alarm and related security products. This might include:
? Design of software for multi-processor digital and analogue audio routing systems
? Design of software for audio system peripherals
? Legacy product software support
Desired Skills:
Successful candidates will have one or more of the following skill sets:
? Experience of real-time programming with variety of high performance micro :controllers using the ?C? programming language.
? High level architectural design of multi processor systems
? Design of communications protocols
? Formal software design documentation skills
? Ability to work within a small team of software engineers
? Familiarity with ARM, DSPIC or Renesas processors an advantage
Qualifications and Experience:
? A track record that demonstrates a clear ability to design complex and innovative new products.
? Preferably backed by a good degree in a relevant subject.
? A proven track record of designing software for electronics systems in a commercial environment is essential.
? Good technical documentation skills.
? A practical knowledge and understanding of hardware would be an advantage.
