Design Team Manager (SC cleared)
A Design Team Manager is required by a leading engineering company on an ongoing contract basis. Location is Berkshire, rate is £34-45ph according to experience.
It is key that you can demonstrate extensive experience of managing and co-ordinating a multi-discipline design team in a nuclear or regulated environment.
Due to the nature of the clients work you must hold current UK Security Clearance of SC level to be considered for this contract with an immediate start available and also have worked in the UK for the past 10 years as you will put through the DV security process and this is part of they key criteria, candidates that can meet this criteria CAN ONLY be considered
Overview of the Role
A key member of the project design team with responsibility for managing multi-disciplinary resources to deliver the design scope of the project.
• Introduce best practice into engineering design and management delivery
• Assist in the overall delivery of the project by the team
• Assist Continuous Improvement of safety and performance
• Maintain effective working relationships with other Authorities / Organisations
Key Responsibilities
Establishing, maintaining and communicating the engineering design programme, budget and work breakdown structure
• Identifying and agreeing with the project manager a comprehensive resource requirement for the design scope of the project to budgetary targets
• Ensuring the design team undertaking engineering design duties meet the requirement to be Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP)
• Establishing and maintaining the design configuration to ensure the intent and integrity is maintained throughout the project life
• Integrating and co-ordinating the engineering design activities of all disciplines, departments and other suppliers of design, contributing to the project
• Monitoring and reporting to relevant parties the quality of design across all disciplines
• Ensuring that designs are compliant with statutory requirements and technology transfer.
• Identify potential projects and opportunities;
• Plan, budget, organise , direct and control tasks, people and resources within the design team
Essential Qualifications
Engineering (Mech/ Elec/ Building Services) HND or Degree
Experience Required
• Extensive experience of managing and co-ordinating a multi-discipline design teams in a nuclear or regulated environment.
• Knowledge of statutory regulations and codes of practice including CDM
• Experience of design configuration control Demonstrate excellent man-management skills.
