Job Purpose

Through direct leadership of a team of functional analysts and indirect leadership of a team of technical and infrastructure specialists, the Service Delivery Manager – Finance & HR is accountable for delivering business critical support, problem management, user capability improvements, minor enhancements and service improvements to the Finance and HR functions with respect to financial and human capital management systems.

Annual budget responsibility of circa £200M expense. Manage team of 4 permanent IT professionals, and indirect leadership of circa 5 technical development and infrastructure specialists. Responsible for delivery of and enhancement to circa 10 services (GL, AP, Hyperion, BACS etc.) to over 400 users which are fundamental to the successful operation of financial control.


Principal Accountabilities

* Deliver business critical IT services that enable the Finance, and HR functions to operate effectively.

* Provide leadership to a direct team of 4 functional analysts and indirectly to a team of technical and infrastructure specialists, ensuring that stretching business and people objectives are set and achieved. Grow talent within IT through coaching, training and appraisal of direct team and coaching members of the wider IT team as appropriate.

* Define and achieve stretching service improvement targets through excellent execution of the core service delivery processes: incident, problem, change and configuration management.

* Engage with senior managers within Finance and HR, to ensure that enhancements are prioritized in accordance with business strategy.

* Responsible for the definition, documentation and execution of enhancements. Lead team to ensure clarity of scope, timing and costs, managing internal and external suppliers as necessary. Ensure that realistic cost and resource estimates, project and quality plans are prepared and maintained, monitoring activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to senior IT, Finance and HR management.

* Deliver enhancements as releases, liaising as necessary with colleagues to ensure that interdependencies with major projects and other functional areas are identified and managed.

* Manage relationships with vendors and deliver productivity improvements in conjunction with Purchasing. Understand vendor roadmaps and compute infrastructure plans, to ensure supported applications are used, escalating exceptions and proposing mitigating actions where necessary.

* Ensure that all activities within team comply with relevant Operating model procedures, including relevant Service Management, Project Management Framework and Sarbanes Oxley controls.
