My client is a leading organisation based in South Yorkshire that operates within the educational area. They are looking to recruit a Technical Assurance Specialist for a permanent role; the salary being offered is competitive. The Role
You will be responsible for ensuring that a robust technical infrastructure and environment is built through bringing in line development, test and production life cycles using a methodical approach.
Ideally you will have a variety of experience; a background in the following is favourable: testing, server and system configuration and solutions architecture. You need to have a good knowledge of cross platform/ end to end internet based systems.
You will be responsible for developing and overseeing the development and application of unit tests that provide sufficient coverage to ensure a quality solution. You shall ensure that all code is developed according to established procedures and practices. Day to day activities include being involved in testing functions and performance checking; and documenting these requirements. You shall also take part in project process meetings.
Role and responsibilities
•Focus on internet systems technology and architecture
•Oversight and assurance of the approaches adopted for technology delivery
•Integrity of system builds for Operational and Test environments
•Co-ordination and leadership of technical activities, for example as regards problem resolution or design work
•Focus on Systems management approaches, including monitoring, alerting and error handling
•Production of relevant timely documentation
•Support and guidance for projects as well as change aimed at technology analysis and improvement.
•Technical trouble shooting, including leading other areas in diagnosing and resolving technical problems
Technical Experience Required:
-Ideally you will have experience on multiple Hardware and Software Environments
-Server builds, ideally Linux based; Solaris and Microsoft of interest but only in addition to Linux
•Internet – end to end architectures - at both conceptual and technical levels
•Apache Tomcat and JBOSS
•Identity Management and Access Control Systems
•Databases including Oracle, MySQL and SQL server
•Technical security measures
•Testing methodologies
•Java, PHP, .net software development environments
•Firewalls, networks
•Linux, Solaris, Windows operating systems
•Content Management Systems including Mediasurface
•Systems Monitoring tools
•VMWare
Experience and Skills Required
A good understanding of:
•the technologies required to deliver state of the art web based systems
•how systems are technically configured across a number of platforms including the ability to acquire new skills
•security implications of internet systems design and build
•capacity and performance management of enterprise strength integrated systems
•security implications for internet facing systems
•Service Management principles including ITIL
•Project Management principles (Prince 2)
•Good organisational skills, influencing and communication skills.
For a suitable candidate with the right aptitudes but relatively limited experience there would be the opportunity to train, and develop into this rewarding role.
