An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Designer to join an eLearning development team. You will have developed a proven track record in the design and development of eLearning and Blended Learning solutions using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Flash, Illustrator, Photoshop).

Ideally degree educated or equivalent, you will have the ability to instructionally design, storyboard and manage documentation. You will have good team playing skills with the ability to work with clients and to understand their requirements. Design for print is an advantage.

Project related responsibilities:
• Scopes content for project:
• Works with project team to structure and order source content into a logical model
• Identifies the appropriate design approach, quantifying the appropriate learner time and associated development effort for sections/ modules
• Documents the scope for internal and client review
• Working with the project team, defines and documents the design approach
• Communicates scope and design approach to clients, explaining decisions and choices
• Writes content:
• Applies design approach in agreed format and templates, and in adherence with style guide
• Works closely with external and internal subject matter experts and/ or source material as required
• Identifies how and where to use graphics, audio, video, animation to achieve the required effect within the design approach
• Ensure that content is implemented effectively in built e-learning, making design and content decisions as required during build and review phase
• Other design and development related tasks as defined by the employer

Characteristics: Essential
• At least 1 year’s experience in either design or e-learning
• Extensive working knowledge of Indesign, Photoshop, Flash (actionscript not essential)
• Highly enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic individual comfortable working in a fast-paced growth company, on multiple projects with tight deadlines
• Capable of taking initiative: making recommendations on best approach in terms of scoping, design and scripting and following through with action, working with support of project manager
• Strong writing and editing skills, with proven ability to write a range of technical, instructional, educational materials in different contexts, in a range of tones and styles
• Strong communication skills: capable explaining rationale of decisions to clients, communicating progress and updates to clients and to colleagues
• Comfortable learning new applications including e-learning authoring tools and graphics application packages

Characteristics: Desirable
• Experience in designing and scripting e-learning in an e-learning company or corporate environment
• Actionscript experience
• Strong IT capabilities in range of MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
• Experience in developing authoring tools and working with LMS
• Experience with project plan development and cost estimation
