Our client, a leading consultancy in the field of nuclear engineering require a Design Manager to join the team based in Berkshire on a CONTRACT basis.
Overview of the Role:
Acting as a key member of the project design team you will have responsibility for managing multi-disciplinary resources to deliver the design scope of the project. Introduce best practice into engineering design and management delivery. Assist in the overall delivery of the project by the team and the Continuous Improvement of safety and performance and maintain effective working relationships with other Authorities / Organisations
Key Responsibilities:
•Establishing, maintaining and communicating the engineering design programme, budget and work breakdown structure
• Identifying and agreeing with the project manager a comprehensive resource requirement for the design scope of the project to budgetary targets
• Ensuring the design team undertaking engineering design duties meet the requirement to be Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP)
• Establishing and maintaining the design configuration to ensure the intent and integrity is maintained throughout the project life
• Integrating and co-ordinating the engineering design activities of all disciplines, departments and other suppliers of design, contributing to the project
• Monitoring and reporting to relevant parties the quality of design across all disciplines
• Ensuring that designs are compliant with statutory requirements and technology transfer.
• Identify potential projects and opportunities;
• Plan, budget, organise , direct and control tasks, people and resources within the design team
To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate your experience in the following:
• Managing and co-ordinating a multi-discipline design team in a nuclear or regulated environment.
• Knowledge of statutory regulations and codes of practice including CDM
• Design configuration control.
Qualifications: HND or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services) is essential, Chartered Engineer (or working towards) is desirable.
