A Java Architect ideally with Telecoms Network Management systems experience is required by a leading wireless infrastructure company based in the Cambridge area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the technical direction of the software design to achieve the required functionalities, performance, technology and quality in a cost-effective and timely manner. In return, you'll be offered a salary of £55k - £60k.
Accountabilities:
. Technical leadership of all design issues in the OMC-R Team.
. Creation, review and maintenance of software designs and documentation.
. Working closely with Project Managers, Team Leaders and system architects to ensure agreed design changes are documented and brought under change control.
Role Requirements:
Java Design
. Strong skills in Object-orientated design using UML
. Strong skills in selecting and applying well-known OO design patterns
. Experience in designing Java based GUIs
High Availability Design
. Experience in designing distributed and redundant database systems (preferably MySQL) and client-server applications for high availability
. Experience in specifying test cases for component failure scenarios
. Skilled in modelling down-time of high availability software architectures
Other
. Experience of developing products for Linux platforms
. Experience of JBOSS, EJB, MySQL and JUnit
. Experience of using tools for build, source code control, object-oriented design, testing, profiling, memory leak detection, etc
. Familiarity with Linux-HA and RHEL Advanced Server
. Familiarity with clustering solutions using MySQL & JBoss
. Experience of measuring and predicting system load and performance for different architectures and operational deployments.
. Knowledge and experience of agile software engineering practices including Extreme Programming
