To be highly successful in this job you will need to draw on skills gained in six key information technology services areas
(i) mission critical midrange systems (Unix) support operational management
(ii) enterprise backup operations
(iii) clustering technology support
(iv) enterprise storage and media management
(v) systems architecture design and solution pricing
(vi) systems integration and technical project management (entry level).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The key responsibilities of this role are to:
- Be part of a larger support team and work with support organisation to enhance and improve the standard UNIX environment and support utilities and practices
- Provide deep level 3 expertise in problem resolution.
- Work with group architecture teams to establish and fulfil necessary enhancements in developing a reliable high performance UNIX platforms
- Lead engagements with other technical areas in cross-platform related enhancements and provide technical and operational expertise for such environments
- Engage and work closely with software development teams to embed best practices, enhance reliability and supportability and ensure adherence to standards within various applications environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise in tuning and configuration of unix environments.
- Ensure highest levels of ownership, accountability and service are maintained within the team
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
The following skills are required to be successful in performing this position.
- Essential Strong Track record in supporting and engineering best in class unix environments including Solaris, AIX and Linux
- In-depth technical knowledge of operating systems down to kernel level and other key operating components such as clustering software.
- Strong scripting skills
- Ability to architect, and implement key support tools and mechanisms within a large heterogeneous UNIX environment.
- Service oriented approach to engineering solutions
- Ability to provide level 3 technical support
- Experience in architecting platform solutions for mission critical trading applications.
- Strong understanding of SAN technologies
- Strong experience with implementation and design of NIS, LDAP and other directory services infrastructures
- Financial services IT experience
- Ability to set out strategy for support and operations of the complex mission critical environment
- Ability to innovate and lead
- Beneficial Technical experience in Windows and Database environments.
