As part of the Scottish Parliament’s Business Information Technology Office, you will be joining a team responsible for developing and maintaining the IT solutions which support and enable the business of the Parliament and its Members (MSPs).

This entry-level role will involve you assisting with the support and maintenance of existing applications, and supporting the development opportunities for both current and new business solutions.

You will need at least an HNC or HND (SCQF level 7 or 8/ SVQ level 4) in a relevant subject (eg software development, computing). This role provides a fantastic opportunity to apply the knowledge you have gained through your qualification in a real business environment. We will even provide you with a mentor and excellent learning and development opportunities to enable your to grow in the role. In return, you should have a knowledge/awareness of the software development process and a knowledge and some experience of developing with .NET development framework and using SQL Server or similar Database technology. You should also have knowledge of object-oriented software design.

You must also be able to demonstrate good communication skills to technical and non-technical colleagues and be a flexible team worker with a willingness to share knowledge and support your colleagues as the business requires. You will also need good problem solving and decision making skills and be able to deliver allocated work through to completion.
