Surrey County Council’s IT and Digital Service is at the heart of the council’s innovation agenda. It is key to modernisation and new models of service delivery and underpins the delivery of continual improvements in quality and efficiency. The Development Team is part of the Projects and Transformation group within IT and Digital. The group is responsible for delivering IT business solutions across all services of the Authority and a number of partner organisations.

The Development Team comprises 30 staff across 6 teams covering a range of platforms and disciplines, including .Net, SharePoint, Integration and Business Intelligence. Some of our recent .Net projects include:

Highways Problem Reporting

Identity Management

Registrars Ceremonies and Appointments Booking systems

Early Years Parent and Provider Portals

Waste Permits

The .Net Team has a vacancy for a .Net Developer. In this role you will work on developing innovative business solutions to help the Council and its partners meet their strategic objectives. You will create new applications and support existing ones while working closely with internal customers and project teams, business partners and third-party suppliers.

The successful applicant will have extensive .Net MVC, C# and Entity Framework experience and evidence of creating large scale, public facing, secure web applications using these technologies. Agile experience is important, specifically SCRUM. You will be strong on testing, with experience of writing unit tests. Knowledge and experience of using a practical approach to development within time and cost constraints is key. You will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. You will be a quick learner, self-motivated and able to proactively share knowledge with your colleagues. Experience of mentoring junior colleagues would be extremely beneficial.

This role would suit a technically-focussed person who is passionate about keeping abreast of new technologies whilst keeping their focus on delivering high quality, maintainable applications that can grow with the customers' needs.
