What it’s about

We’re looking for an experienced Enterprise Applications Developer to join our team developing enterprise strength applications used in the development and processing of assessments.

What you’ll be doing

Working as a member of the development team to deliver solutions to the required standards

Understand current systems and their capabilities so that you can confidently develop areas that are needed for the business

Deliver developments iteratively creating documentation, tests, prototypes and demos as appropriate and as required

What we’re looking for

You will have a background in enterprise Java application development you should be comfortable working on both the front and backend of an application.

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree-level or equivalent and has worked on the enterprise application delivered using web technologies.

The successful candidates must have:

A good academic background (BSc or equivalent) in a computer science, engineering or in a related field or equivalent experience

Object Orientated (OO) Design experience

Appreciation for several design patterns

Knowledge of designing distributed systems

Knowledge of designing concurrent systems

Must have excellent core Java development skills

The successful candidates should also have:

Knowledge of programming language: Java, Javascript with JQuery.

Knowledge of one or more development frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, FreeMaker, MS SSRS Reporting)

Knowledge of web application servers and their administration (Tomcat, JBoss)

Knowledge of HTML, CSS

Knowledge of working with a large scale RESTful web services and multiple database systems (including NoSQL)

Able to work independently, possesses a flexible attitude and good communication skills

Excellent team skills, motivation to work in a global organization and a heightened sense of ownership

Ability to think outside the box and demonstrate a mind set for continuous improvement and innovation

Experience of the following within a commercial environment would also be desirable:

a. Agile methodologies

b. Continuous Integration (TDD and BDD)
