The key role of an Information Security & Risk Advisor is to provide business driven advice on the management of security and information risk consistent with HMG IA policy, standards and guidance. Whilst also guiding and supporting colleagues in the development and implementation of risk management policy, including guidance on both technical and non-technical security risk mitigation. It will actively contribute to creation of IA Strategy and IA Policy and the definition of Enterprise Information Security Architecture that underpins the IA strategy; and ensure the team aligns with this framework

About you

With a strong understanding of the business relevance of information risks and the current trends and developments in information security, as well as technical information security concepts and controls. You’ll have the ability to take a holistic view of security issues and make risk based judgments in accordance with risk appetite. Your excellent communication and presentation skills, and strong negotiation skills allows you to influence cost and risk based decisions and articulate security advice (construct and communicate risk cases) directly to key stakeholders, including SIRO, DSO, ITSO, CDO, CTO and Executive Director level. And, of course, it goes without saying; you’ve excellent time management and organisational skills to be able to concurrently manage multiple business (both BAU and Project) expectations as well as different aspects of Cyber Security & Information Assurance;
