Salary: £65,000 per annum

An opportunity has arisen within The Church of England’s IT Department, which has undergone a radical transformation and now executes a mixture of on premise, Cloud and 3rd party sourced IT services, in an entirely new and modern IT infrastructure that utilises the latest technologies.

This is a largely operational post. The successful candidate will be hands-on and will contribute to and comply with IT Enterprise Architecture, Roadmaps and Technical Design Authority and develop secure, common, integrated new generation IT solutions for a broad range of IT services - Microsoft AD, Exchange, O365, RDP, CRM, SharePoint, Databases, Hyper-V, Azure, VMWare, Cloud, Netapps, Web Hosting, Voice and Data Networking, IT Maintenance, Capacity Management, Backups, Disaster Recovery, Consultancy, Support, Technical Projects and 3rd party engagement. The postholder will conduct systems analysis and impact assessments, recommend options and provide quotes, specify, build, test, release and deploy technology changes and solutions, provide technical documentation, work instructions, 3rd line service desk support, resource usage insight and capacity management reports and technical input to other IT colleagues and Departmental priorities.

Key tasks

- Support the Head of Technical Architecture to develop, implement and manage the technical landscape and associated IT Roadmap and perform the TDA quality assurance role

- Provide technical consultancy and operational support across a broad technology spectrum and new generation IT services - IaaS, Cloud, VMs, Microsoft’s Hyper-V, RDP, VMWare, VDI, Thin Print, Databases, Replication, Backups, Network Security, Maintenance and House-keeping, VPLS, VPNs, DMZs, Switches, Intelligent Routing,, Palo Altos, Aero-Hives Wi-Fi APs, Mitel, Web Hosting, TLS, HTTPS, SMTP, FTPS, 3rd Line Desktop and Application support

- Conduct a mix of systems analysis and impact assessments and provide recommendations, quotes, functional specifications, solution designs, technical documentation/instructions

- Create technical standards and IT security documentation and work with projects, NCIs colleagues and 3rd parties to mitigate cyber security risks

- Active involvement in technical and T enabled change projects and operational changes

- Keep abreast with developments in the IT industry to ensure solution architectures are kept in line with industry standard

To be successful in the role you will be:

- Educated to degree level in IT or a related business topic; certified or highly knowledgeable in TOGAF, MCSE, N+ and A+; network certification e.g. Cisco or CCNP

- Proficiency in using techniques for structured reviews of business requirements, functional specifications, solution designs, technical documents and technical plans and scripts

- Significant experience in developing, implementing and supporting IT solutions and providing integrated IT that operates on the core new generation technologies in use

- Outstanding communication and relationship building skills

- A proven track record in providing consultancy and support to users, departments, IT colleagues, projects and 3rd parties and working collaboratively with each to deliver success

- Committed to delivering a high level of customer service evidenced by user feedback and a sense of urgency and passion to complete work in a timely fashion and with quality and attention to detail

This role is based in Westminster and requires working at Lambeth Palace or Bermondsey and occasional travel to Supported Housing locations across the Country
