You live for technology.

You create and innovate.

You safeguard our nation.

Here at MI5, we protect the UK from any threats to national security. We’re experts at working against everything from terrorism and espionage to cyber threats and weapons of mass destruction. In our world, innovation is boundless and technology is limitless. It means that every day we do extraordinary things, tirelessly working to safeguard our nation.

The role

To help us protect the UK, you’ll work on technically advanced and innovative projects. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the right technology selections are made, overseeing processes until they are live. As part of this, we’ll expect you to develop architecture designs and author both high-level and low-level design.

With a commitment to making future visions a reality, you’ll help a range of stakeholders understand where, and how, technology can benefit them. Working across other interesting areas of our organisation, you’ll experience diverse challenges and develop valuable expertise.

About you

With a development background in a high-level language (Java or C#), you’ll have reached a high level of expertise. You’ll also have the ability to design solutions and evaluate technical options, always assessing the merit of different approaches. Thanks to previous experience, you’ll also understand modular architectures and be experienced in iterative delivery methods.
