You live for technology.

You create and innovate.

You safeguard our nation.

MI6 is the UK’s foreign human intelligence agency. In our world, sophisticated technology strengthens a very human approach to gathering secret intelligence overseas. Our work is all about people: their beliefs and motivations, relationships and trust. So, ours is a culture where qualities like creativity, curiosity, insight and intuition are highly valued alongside intellect and technical ability.

The role

Working closely with other Government agencies, you’ll enjoy a varied and challenging role that’ll see you safeguarding our nation. Contributing to all stages of the software development lifecycle, you’ll be involved in everything from design and programming to resolving problems or fixing bugs. It’s about using your initiative to integrate highly sensitive systems within tight timeframes.

To enable you to create world firsts, you’ll receive bespoke training that’ll develop your skills. It’s a chance to learn languages like Java, JavaScript, .Net, C#, C++, Perl, Python and Hadoop frameworks or build expertise on areas such as implementing off-the-shelf applications and database application design.

About you

As a recent IT graduate, you’ll have a sound understanding of the software development lifecycle and will have experience with at least one programming language. With a background in a development or a non-development environment, you’ll be a strong communicator, a natural problem-solver and enjoy keeping up with emerging technologies. Forward-thinking and curious, you’ll also have a strong desire to learn new skills and progress your own development.

Apply

Our roles are as individual as you are. Find out more and apply via our website.

To apply to MI6 you must be a born or naturalised British citizen, over 21 years old and normally have been based in the UK for six of the last ten years. You should not discuss your application with anyone other than your partner or a close family member providing that they are British. They should also be made aware of the importance of discretion.

MI6 strives for diversity in the workplace and is committed to the creation and maintenance of a climate in which all staff are treated fairly on the grounds of merit and ability.
