A Legal Compliance Officer is required for a proprietary trading house focusing on commodity markets.

The company is a small to medium sized organisation who have recently secured brand new premises as part of their exceptional growth and are as part of their future growth plans, are now in search for a bright and talented individual who will be able to shape their Compliance & Legal function.

They are looking for someone able to face off to senior members the business on all Compliance and Legal matters. This will include creating a comprehensive compliance management strategy to reduce risk and promote efficiency.

Given the companies activities, you would be expected to have a thorough understanding of up-to-date market, exchange and employment legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

Advise the organisation on the impact of any developments or changes in market and/or exchange regulations.

Create, develop, and implement controls and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations relevant to the organisations business activities.

Involvement in HR legislation ensuring management are in the knowhow of any major changes.

Direct and maintain an effective compliance communication programme

Requirements:

We are looking for a qualified lawyer with buy side experience/background (proprietary trading house, hedge fund, investment management or asset management) with a strong understanding of commodity markets.

Current or recent exposure to commercial and employment matters - drafting/reviewing contracts would be great.
