About the role
Technology plays a key role in helping us to protect people, properties and wildlife from environmental risks. As CIS Information Security Officer you’ll be pivotal in ensuring data and information about ourselves and our customers remains safe and secure yet available to those that require access. Working within the wider CIS Service Delivery team, you’ll collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure we maintain a robust, supportive security service in line with agreed quality standards. Keeping up-to-date on changing legislation and best practice, you’ll provide specialist security advice to operational teams and will mentor others on the policies, procedures and practices they need to deliver their work in an effective and efficient manner. Your expert opinion will also see you contribute to the development of Environment Agency policy at a national and local level, in line with environmental targets.
About you
Along with substantial security and IT audit experience, you’ll preferably hold an ITIL v3 Foundation and - ideally - have a proven track record in a government role with exposure to risk management/assessment, too. Credible and confident, you’ve excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy collaborating with internal and external colleagues. Your proactive approach and fresh perspective will ensure you’re always looking for ways we can improve, ultimately improving the environment for everyone.
