About the position:
Responsibility for supporting the Senior Web Developer, in developing and maintaining the UK Intranet platform and the associated application landscape.
To respond to requests from all areas of the business and to develop applications to improve efficiencies, productivity and reporting systems.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
- Support, maintenance and development of the internal UK Intranet platform and applications
- Working with the Senior Web Developer to develop from conception to final testing and maintenance,
web based applications, according to requirements set out from business units.
- Keeping all code properly organised and documented
- Assist in running and maintaining the web / database server
- Working with people across the organisation to ensure applications are easy to use and closely fit the business requirement
- Creating innovative & robust technical solutions to support business development
- Troubleshooting
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience of PHP & mySQL
- Good understanding of OOP
- Knowledge of Patterns and Frameworks / Web 2.0 technologies desirable
- High level of problem solving and analytical skills
- Enthusiastic about learning and applying new skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to assist/train staff
- Experience of Linux and Apache is desirable
About you:
- With good business skills, you will be able to review, analyse & modify systems including testing and debugging
and you will need to be able to hit the ground running.
- Having a basic understanding of networking infrastructure within a LAMP / WAMP environment, along with any
experience of working with legacy system integration or iSeries (AS400) is desirable
- Good attention to detail, hard-working, dependable and with a flexible attitude, you will be able to work
under pressure and communicate effectively with team members.
- A self-motivated person, you will be a good team player and have the ability to prioritise and follow direction.
