Kew is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major visitor attraction, that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew’s mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life.

Approximately £15m of Kew’s annual budget is devoted to major projects and programmes of work. These initiatives span a wide range of areas including science, landscape improvements, construction, technology and public engagement.

In 2014, we introduced the Strategic Programme Board (SPB) to govern major projects (£500k), using a gateway methodology to control and monitor them through their entire lifecycle. This has already begun to markedly improve the investment decisions, initiation and delivery of projects. We now need to build on this good start and continue to develop the organisation’s PPPM (project, programme & portfolio management) maturity.

In your previous roles as portfolio and/or programme manager, you will have gained substantial experience of successfully delivering a similarly sized portfolio of major projects for a not-for-profit organisation. You will possess formal qualifications in one or more areas of PPPM. You will be adept at developing business cases of a quality that allows decision making regarding £multi-million investments. You will also have experience of successfully improving project delivery standards within a comparable organisation, e.g. through the creation of a project management community of practice.

Benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a choice of pensions, a flexible benefits scheme as well as a great working environment.
