You’ll lead, inspire and manage teams in Technology and Information Services to ensure that key outcomes are delivered efficiently, compliantly and in line with appropriate standards. You’ll also manage relationships and engagement with stakeholders - both across the Met Office and externally - to share best practice and effectively exploit and protect information assets.

As an internal expert on Information Security, you’ll offer training on processes, take care of incident management and resolution and oversee vulnerability assessment and protective monitoring. Another aspect of your impactful role will be providing guidance to key strategic initiatives and projects, which could include anything from implementing the security processes around the new supercomputer to enhancing Business Continuity. In this rewarding role, you’ll promote best practice and embed a culture of continuous improvement, thriving on challenges and developing your career at every step of the journey.

1. Proven leadership skill and the ability to manage a complex and varied workflow with multiple teams; whilst maintaining key service levels and positive customer/client feedback.

2. Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to influence and negotiate with people at all levels inside and outside the organisation.

3. A strong understanding of Information Security including procedures and policies around: Incident Management and investigations, digital forensics, information asset management, vulnerability analysis and protective monitoring.

4. A pragmatic understanding of how Information Security Risk Management is key to the delivery of business outcomes.

5. A good understanding of newly emerging IT technologies and architectures in relation to Information Security.

6. Capable managing operational and capital budget and expenditure with a proven financial management background.

If you’ve any of the following desirable skills, qualifications and experience, that’s even better:

1. Experience of working in a Senior Information Security role.
