QinetiQ is the UK’s largest research and technology organisation, developing cutting-edge solutions for customers in defence, security and related markets, as well as new fields such as energy and the environment. We’re also a founding member of The 5% Club, an exciting initiative that calls on UK companies to achieve the target of having graduates, apprentices and sponsored students comprise 5% of their UK workforce within the next five years. We encourage people to think and do things differently - to seize the opportunities of tomorrow.

At Shoeburyness, we manage an advanced test, evaluation and training facility in partnership with the MOD. Due to the unique scale and scope of our activities here, we can now offer a varied and challenging opportunity for someone with a flexible, highly productive approach to project and programme management.

The role will focus on your ability to understand customers’ requirements and to ensure that these are safely delivered to quality, cost and time specifications. It will involve ensuring that all stakeholders are made aware of project plans and progress - including the provision of appropriate financial and progress reports - and that external subcontracted resources are effectively managed. You will contribute to the bidding process by preparing documentation, packs and plans, with an emphasis on clear, unambiguous and detailed statements. You will also ensure that all project risks are thoroughly identified, assessed and managed.

With a good degree or equivalent in Engineering or a similar discipline, you should have excellent organisational skills, strong written and verbal communication, knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel and Project - plus, previous project management/ coordination experience. The latter will ideally cover the practical application of project management techniques, including risk management and financial management. It will also be an advantage to be an associate member of the Association of Project Management (APM), whilst training can be provided to achieve APM-recognised qualifications.

To join us in breaking new ground in the application of ideas and technology, you must share our commitment to pace, positivity and pro-active personal development. You must be intensely customer focused and eager to build strong relationships across the organisation. We’ll also expect you to show plenty of leadership qualities and potential.

You must have, or be eligible for, full security clearance. To gain clearance, you will normally have been resident in the UK for a minimum of five years.
