Environment Support and Development - Contract - Gloucestershire - Great Rates!

Responsible for maintaining and developing the predominantly Linux based Test Service Data Centre. This will include: supporting test projects: incident and problem management; system administration and monitoring; anti malware; auditing and security updates; change and configuration management; asset management and system baselines; accreditation review and renewals; management of 3rd party support agreements and the management of any power outages. Hardware service improvements will also be managed and undertaken.

This role will report to the Technical Lead for all Data Centre related matters, but must be able to plan and manage the day to day operations of the Data Centre with minimal supervision, and to ITIL and other industry best practice standards.

Required Skills: (ideally 4 years in an enterprise setting)

* An enterprise form of Linux, ideally Red Hat Enterprise Linux, including system design, implementation, troubleshooting and system administration

* (less preferably) Microsoft Windows, ideally the Server product line, including system design, implementation, troubleshooting and system administration

* Security aware - experience designing and deploying systems in a secure environment, awareness of the at least some of the following guidance:

* CESG Good Practice Guides

* Center for Internet Security (CIS)

* GAP hardening

* Development and code management experience (e.g. Git, Python, Perl)

* Strong appreciation for infrastructure services i.e.DNS, LDAP, NTP

* Must be reliable in front of customers and able to communicate appropriately

* Ability to achieve compartmented Access (PU)

* Must fit in with the team structure and help improve performance

* Must be able to explain things clearly to a less technical audience

* Must establish good working relationships with the wider project team and customer community

* Must require minimal supervision

* Experience of System design, installation & commissioning

* Experience of Communications Networks

* Experience of Development & Test Planning, scoping and execution

* Experience of providing 1st and 2nd line IT support

Desirable Skills:

* Enterprise storage (RAID, SCSI controllers, multipath, configuring filesystems, managing a central file server)

* Networking (mostly on Cisco)

* Nagios monitoring

* VMware ESX/ESXi

* PKI EXPERIENCE, so running a Certificate Authority

* Wiki authoring

* ITIL
