Computer Futures are currently working with a key client looking for a Head of IT to be based in their Bournemouth office.

The successful candidate will have a previous experience within a senior technical capacity and have solid examples of strong leadership.

You will be responsible for implementing an IT strategy across the company as well as managing the IT structure.

You will determine and agree detailed proposals/plans both for new projects and ongoing service delivery, finalising staffing levels and budgets for each area, consistent with service delivery requirements. You will also be responsible for building, monitoring and motivating your team.

The job holder will probably be a Graduate, possibly with a further relevant qualification, and will probably have a strong track record over at least 5 years as a professional IT practitioner, followed by a similar period with demonstrable success as a project manager. The holder should be persuasive, with excellent written / oral communication skills, able to persuade senior management to buy into his/her IT strategy and to liaise effectively with management and staff at all levels.

You will be ideally already be a qualified expert in PMA, Prince and/or MSP. Comfortable in a matrix management structure, you should have a broad understanding of IT infrastructure and application, ideally within the banking industry, along with experience of project and portfolio management.

Fronting IT operational reporting, you will provide advice and guidance on all IT matters, own IT portfolios for various business units, support cross-business prioritisation and provide SME support. Providing businesses with IT insight and innovation, you will assume their IT risks, ensure compliance, manage their IT suppliers and provide an escalation route from operational level to the CIO function.

A strong analytical skill set plus excellent report generation, influencing and problem solving skills will be essential.
