Senior Oracle DBA - East Yorkshire £50K+ Good Benefits

Key Activities:

* Responsible for the logical and physical database development; Table design, data types and understanding how to implement different data modeling techniques

* Responsible for the development of the most efficient database designs (tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, indexes)

* Work with solution architect on database performance optimization and usage operational metrics; must perform profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries

* Ensure the BI database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and perform test backups to ensure business' Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are met

* Work with infrastructure partner to create work request to install and configure new SQL Servers for BI Solutions

* Responsible for Failover clustering, SAN replication, and other high availability technologies

* Based upon business systems requirements deciding whether clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication are the right fit to solve a business problem

* Responsible for working with solution architect on data volume metrics and demand capacity planning and forecasting growth of BI Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Operational Data Store environments

* Document the BI database landscape and ensures the support team is prepared to support and manage new solutions at Go Live

* Responsible for level 2 and 3 support services of the BI database solutions in collaboration with support partners. Work with the Solution Architect to stabilize, standardize, and simplify the legacy BI landscape.

* Works with solution architect to design scalable, flexible database solutions. Ensures adherence to agreed on architecture standards and guidelines.

Requirements for the Position:

*At least 7 years ideally 10 years of experience in a corporate IT environment as an Oracle DBA.

*We are looking for an individual with Oracle Database design, management and support experience in a complex production environment.

Experience in all of the following is essential;

*Excellent knowledge of Oracle 11g or 12C (Ideally OCP)

*Good working knowledge of SQL Server.

*Oracle Grid Control 11g

*Good working knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems

*A high level of experience and competence in Database design, testing, tuning and maintenance

*Experience in analysing Database configuration and performance issues

*Excellent knowledge of RAC, RMAN, ASM & Data Guard is a must.

*Working knowledge on Exadata systems is desirable but not essential

*Comfortable with Database and Clusterware patching on Linux OS environment

*Good knowledge of scripting, OS & PL/SQL

*Familiar with the ITIL Framework.
