You are a confident senior developer or head of technology looking to work on the intersection of business and technology. You will be expected to provide leadership in all areas of technology which affect the business, including: systems architecture, office network setup, local development tools, QA processes and coding standards. You will be eager to make your mark, proactive in suggesting new ideas and comfortable operating at the edge of your experience. This is a leadership position and you will be expected to mentor the existing team, audit technical work, address developer concerns and assist in technical recruiting. We are looking for a hands-on person who will spend 50% of their time coding and 50% managing.

Key accountabilities:

-Managing technical teams of five or more.

-Architecting complex web systems.

-Working with project managers to deliver projects.

-Working with the client to identify requirements.

-Working with the client to document a technical solution.

-Finding the balance between delivering high quality code and shipping features on time and on budget.

-Overall code quality and adherence to best practice.

-Driving continual learning and improvement in how we work.

-Assisting the MD with technical input during the sales process.

-Identifying next hires and running the recruitment process with the MD.

-Providing hosting recommendations.

-Manage our internal hardware infrastructure (LAN, desktops, test server)

-Manage our internal software infrastructure (BitBucket, Google apps, wiki)

Essential:

-Proven in-depth web / software development experience

-Excellent knowledge of PHP.

-Professional Drupal experience.

-Proven leadership experience in a technical setting.

-Experience of working with project managers providing technical input and project steer.

-Dedication to quality.

-Great communication skills and a proactive can-do attitude.

-Experience working on enterprise agile / scrum projects.

-Confident and commercially aware when working with clients.

-A university degree, preferably software engineering or related.

Desirable:

-Public contributions to open source projects (send us your GitHub ID, D.O ID).

-Experience in presenting at conferences, camps and meet-ups.
