Network Operations engineer who will be responsible for monitoring, reacting to alarms and Network monitoring tootls and ultimately taking responsibility for all level 2 and 3 incident in all Service related issues.
This position requires a broad range of network skills which include traditional telephony TDM through to IP networking.
You will also be responsible for the gathering information in the event of a network incident and assessing the impact to the Services.
Maintaining an incident bridge to effectively co-ordinate the appropriate support teams and communicate progress to management and on call engineers involved in resolving any issues.
Responsibilities
To Provide Monitoring of the Core network and associated services both carried on TDM, Web and IP platforms. Identify route cause and escalate accordingly to third parties or internal on call engineers in accordance with TSC Procedures.
Carry out maintenance routines to the network hardware.
Provide response to Customer incidents
Provide support cover to customers experiencing Critical/ Major issues to service
Use the Support Trouble Ticket Queue Database to record issues customer related issues.
Possess the ability to manage issues to resolution in order to meet customer service level agreements and customer expectations.
Ownership of network incidents and the coordination of their rectification
Qualifications/ Experience
Qualified to degree level in telecommunications or a related technical discipline
Demonstrable expertise in IP technology including SIP
Ability to configure Firewalls/ Routers/ VPNs and associated technologies
3 year + experience in a technical customer facing role in a Carrier support environment.
Knowledge of telephony access technologies (DPNSS, ISDN, DSL/ ADSL)
Router / Media Gateway understanding and configuration
Protocols SIP/ H323/ Q931 and C7 essential
General TDM switching background
Knowledge of switch data and ability to make changes as required
Session Border Control (Nextone) Principles and hands on experience a distinct advantage
Knowledge of IN networks
Softswitch technologies
