Our global out-sourcing client is currently looking for an infrastructure design specialist to undertake changes to the network and communications capability of existing systems, as well as assisting with design, build and implementation of new or amended systems.
The main responsibilities of the role will be to:
Build, configure, test, document and implement network infrastructures capable of supporting deployed IT systems.
Provide input into the design of network infrastructures for deployed systems.
Provide skills in build and configuration for CISCO routers/ switches and related encryption and firewall devices.
Plan and deliver technical tasks as assigned by the Project Manager and/ or Team Leader.
Create and deliver build and installation documentation.
Perform technical compatibility tests to ascertain the level of integration and supportability
Provision of a systems consultancy function to the Customer, based on network skills and the CISCO product range.
Occasional site visits, some overseas, for implementation and support.
We are looking for people who are highly experienced in the following areas:
Cisco IOS CLI and CAT OS CLI and have a very good understanding of Cisco routers and switches.
IPv4 routing, switching and bridging knowledge.
Sound knowledge of PPP, LAPB and WAN architecture.
LAN architecture including VLANs – 802.1Q and ISL trunk.
QoS techniques for design and configuration
H323 and VoIP infrastructure knowledge
OSPF, BGP, RIP, EIGRP for design and configuration
In depth firewall knowledge including Proxies with an overview of Cyberguard firewall configuration and operation
Good knowledge of IP Cryptos (DC2k/ DCAP & ED20s) and Crypto architecture
Sound fault finding techniques
Knowledge of copper and fibre cabling standards and termination
