We are currently looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to join a prestigious, market leading client in central Newcastle.
Main job responsibilities:
· Provide support for Linux systems.
· Building,hardening and implementing new Linux servers based on x86 architecture
· Apply patches and re-compilation of Kernel
· Implementing security policies
· Building and managing IP networks
· DNS maintenance (master/ Slave & caching)
· IP Tables
· Switch/ Router configuration (Cisco, D-Link, other)
· SMTP/ POP3/ Exim/ Qpopper
· Running MySQL on a Linux platform.
· Troubleshooting application issues
· Shell scripting
· Remote monitoring and troubleshooting of servers/ switches/ routers/ etc.
Essential skills:
· Must have 3 years min experience in Linux administration
· Solid Red-Hat experience including Kernel building from scratch
· High availability planning and implementation
· BASH shell scripting expert
· Strong IP Networking including DNS experience and network planning
· Administration of MYSQL (Non-DBA)
· Solid troubleshooting experience
· Solid IP Tables experience
· Able to self manage
· Planning and communication skills
· Ability to self-teach as required
· Flexibility and motivation
