Java J2EE Web Developer (Financial Services)

My client is a leading international Financial Services organisation. They are looking to recruit a Web Developer - Java/ J2EE for a contract opportunity based in the West Midlands . This will be for 3 months in the first instance and will look to extend. The rate being offered is competitive.

Responsibilities:

You will get involved in design, developing and supporting new systems and enhancements to existing systems, based on requirements obtained from customers and prospects, in support of business needs.

To engage with the more complex and business critical projects within the department.

Translation of business requirements into high-level designs suitable for review by non-technical customers and subsequent translation of high-level designs into detailed technical designs suitable for use in the development and testing of the systems.

Estimation of the effort required to build and enhance systems.

Build systems and system enhancements in line with detailed technical design.

Testing of systems to ensure that they behave and perform as specified.

Working within the parameters laid down by quality procedures and standards.

Timely escalation of any risks and issues to the appropriate project manager and/or development manager.

To provide insight and expertise with regard to the various technologies used within the environment.

Experience required:

Essential:

Previous commercial development experience predominantly using Java/J2EE, JSP's and Servlets

Ability to gather requirements from Users and document them in both a non-technical and technical manner.

Good analytical skills.

Good personal skills - a team player.

Desirable

Degree in Computer Science

C programming under Unix

Unix Shell scripting

JBOSS

Oracle RDBMS
