Systems Engineer, 25K - 33K, Bedford + Overtime + Benefits + Bonus

With the rapid growth and increasing complexity of my client's global business, there is now an exclusive requirement for an experienced and skilled Systems Engineer professional to join there ever expanding Network Operations team. This position is based in Bedford.

Job Description

•Supervise the Bedford master control room and provide 2nd line support in order to ensure service levels are achieved.
•Carry out routine, preventative and reactive maintenance of Teleport systems and service carrying equipment to ensure maximum levels of service availability.
•Maintain working relationships with staff at other facilities, service and systems suppliers.

Job Specific Keys:

•Supervise the MCR Engineer and provide them with technical assistance and support in order to clear service faults as quickly as possible.
•Replace faulty equipment to board or unit level and arrange for the repair of such items to maintain the integrity of Teleport services
•Carry out routine maintenance tasks on RF, base band and infrastructure systems as directed by the Engineering Systems Manager and RF Systems Manager
•Assist the Engineering Systems Manager and RF Systems Manager in the installation and reconfiguration of equipment and systems as necessary
•Assist in the running of the technical stores
•Assist in the production or amendment of documentation
•Carry out routine checks on site safety systems as directed by the Teleport Manager
•Assist the Teleport Manager in the maintenance of ISO9001:2000 accreditation Provide ad-hoc support to customers as required
•Ensure health and safety standards at the Teleport are maintained. Promptly report any risks to the Teleport Manager
•Undertake technical training to ensure an up to date knowledge of the systems and technologies on site.
•Shift work with extended hours at short notice
•Provide leave/ sickness cover for Bedford MCR as required
•Travel to other sites and customer premises on occasion
•Carry out any tasks commensurate with the post as directed by the Teleport Manager

Qualifications & Experience:

•BTEC ONC/ OND in an Engineering discipline, or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience
•Experience in one or more of the following areas: Satellite Communications Systems, Data Communications, VSAT Networks, TCP/ IP (to CCNA level would be beneficial but not essential)
•Proven ability to work unsupervised, to strict specifications and timescales, in a customer facing role.
•Capable of tracing and resolving faults within complex systems quickly
•Working knowledge of the satellite service industry with specific emphasis on operational and engineering functions
•Prior experience in a supervisory capacity, or able to demonstrate the ability to supervise effectively
