You will be able to diagnose hardware and software problems under the pressures of racing. You will be expected to probe a problem and objectively understand whether it is a failure of the system or its environment. You must be an excellent communicator with the ability to capture information quickly and accurately.
You will possess a very good understanding of all the electronic elements of an F1 engine and gearbox. This includes the characteristics of typical sensors and actuators used in F1; engine and gearbox control / failure mode strategies.
You will be required to support the ECU hardware, the ECU OS, engine and gearbox control software, plus the application tools used to support the ECU.
You should have experience working trackside in F1 either as an embedded development engineer or as a track support engineer.
You should have experience of the following tools:
Engine or gearbox control software, preferably written in Simulink
Data analysis tools such as ATLAS
ECU set-up tools such as System Monitor
Excel, generation of forms and maintenance of VB macros
The track support team is primarily responsible for customer support in F1, but other motorsport activities also require support from time to time
