Our client, a leading Hedge Fund based in the West End, are seeking a Engineer to lead the Linux discipline.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead the Linux discipline within the Infrastructure group. The candidate must be able to work fast paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
Duties will include:
-Delivering and maintaining a standard Operating System build
-Act as a technical leader, provide detailed and advanced technical advice and guidance for infrastructure and development staff.
-Cross train and educate others
-Translate business needs into standard IT solutions
Skills Required:
-5+ years professional experience with UNIX and Linux in a enterprise engineering/ design/ analysis/ implementation/ administration and troubleshooting role.
-PXE, DHCP
-DNS, Idap
-NTP
-Performance Tuning and sizing
-Monitering and alerting
-NAS and SAN – Netapp, Brocade, FCP, NFS, etc
-Capacity Planning
-Strong Scripting (Perl, Ksh etc)
-Solid understanding of TCP/ IP, network optimization
-Server Virtualisation Technologies (VMWare ESX)
Strong understanding of the following is preferable:
-Cisco Administration, Multicast
-WAFS
-Clustering, e.g. VCS
-Windows., Active Directory
-Appreciation of ITIL concepts
Personal Attributes:
-Communicative with a pro-active personality and a strong ‘get the job done' mentality
-Decisive
-A good problem solver
-Analytical
-Project focused
