A major IT services company seeks an Oracle DBA (Database Administrator) to join their team. Working on customer site in Glasgow, you will be responsible for all database support, dealing with customer issues, and resolving any technology problems.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Setting the standard for database administration and managing the database configurations, ensuring that all standards are observed and procedures carried out in a timely manner. You will monitor trends in database activity and work with others to agree policy for future database development. You will work as part of a team to deliver complex solutions as a specialist or project team technical resource.
The successful Oracle DBA Will have proven experience as an Oracle DBA on Sun Solaris and Windows with database build, installation and adminitration experience. You should have experience of backup and recovery using RMAN (preferably with Veritas Netbackup) as well as Performance tuning and Dataguard. Also essential for this role is experience as an SQL Server DBA and some knowledge of Unix (especially Sun Solaris) and Veritas.
Any relevant accreditations in Oracle OR SQL Server are advantageous but not essential. Some out of hours standby cover (1 week in 4) will be required.
An excellent salary and package is on offer of up to £39k + benefits. You will be based in Glasgow in excellent premises on a client site.
